OUR KWANZAA STORY
Our family’s Kwanzaa tradition began in 1972 with Neil & Janice Jackson. The couple — interested in the Black power movement of the 70s—organized our first family celebration of Kwanzaa. Since then, despite loved ones we have lost, distance, and even a global pandemic, the family has found a way to celebrate together. Over the past fifty-three years, our yearly Kwanzaa celebration has become an honored tradition. Each January, we gather to celebrate the past, to relish in the present, and to organize for the future.
